Personal Reflection

Picture
The message within this poem speaks volumes about what it takes to achieve one's goals and persevere, even through the hardest of times. I easily relate to such a message, having worked and persevered to achieve many of my goals in high school. Just as in the poem, obstacle after obstacle seems to come in the way of my goals and desires. Whether it be sudden illness or simple computer crashes, problems and unexpected issues line the road to success. Overcoming those goals with perseverance is the only way to achieve success.

However, I have long held the belief that overcoming obstacles is also a necessary part of success. If the path were clear of debris and problems, would reaching the end be as grand an achievement? Would a lottery winner consider themself truly successful? The complex relationship between obstacles and perseverance is perhaps the greatest component of success. In knowing that one has conquered obstacles to achieve a goal, one discovers success. Achieving goals is different than being successful. I chose this poem because I want to tackle issues and obstacles that block my goals. In this way, I can discover my own success.
