Personal Relfection

Picture
Out of all the poems in this collection, this is one of my favorites. I was struck by the powerful yet delicate metaphor of the songbird and hope, a comparison which highlighted the eternal presence of hope within all of us. Especially with the connection to the soul, it reflected my own views on hope and optimism in a wonderfully written poem.

In a world surrounded by tragedy and horror, hope is one of the few things that humanity can rely on. Hope is a force which allows us to cope with disaster and sadness, a force that rests within each and every one of us. Some people believe that pessimism is the best route of thinking, but, in reality, it is a counter-productive, self-deprecating act. To lose hope is to lose a part of the human spirit. In any case, pessimism never makes progress or achieves anything remarkable. It is always hope that empowers us to achieve and to succeed. Hope is one of the most powerful tool in life and one that I try to use as much as I can. In every aspect of life, there are things to find hope in. That theory is part of my outlook on life and my attitude, which helps me to shape the world into a better place.
